"My Ideal Job" by Alejandra 6 B.

Hello friends!.

When I´m older,  I want to be a vet because I love animals. Vets work in pet shops, in houses, in a clinic veterinary, in a zoo or on a farm. They wear a green jacket, green trousers and white shoes. They cure animals like horses, dogs, cats, cows, birds, pigs and other animals. They visit animals on the farm. They keep all the animals healthy and they work very hard. I think the best things about my ideal job is to take care animals, to work with them. It´s an interesting job . Good bye friends!! I hope you enjoy !!!

"Christmas in Spain" by Alejandra , 6B

Christmas is a religius holiday in Spain. The country's Patron Saint is the Virgin Mary and the Christmas holiday begins on December the 8th because it´s  the day of  the Immaculate Conception.

The streets, gardens and trees  are decorated with the typical motifs and Christmas lihts. The shop windows are decorated with toys and gifts. At home the people put the Christmas tree and the nativity which consists of a mini representation of the birth of Jesus.

Another date very important is the Christmas Lottery day on the 22nd of December. The day that coincides with the start of the students holidays.

 We celebrated Christmas Eve the day before Christmas. It's know as Nochebuena or "The Good Night". It's a time for family members to enjoy this together. There are a lot of typical foods. The menu varies depending on the area of Spain, like suckling pig and lamb in Castile and Leon or seafood and fish on the coast. The dessert is normally turron and marzipan.

The date of the 28th December is the day of the Innocent saints. This day is for playing tricks with friends and family.

The day of New Year's Eve is the 31st of December. At night when the clock strikes twelve, spanish people eat one grape for each sounding of the bell, that according to the tradition guarantes twelve months of prosperity. Some people celebrated out with friends to celebrate in the street until the early hours of the morning.

Festivities end on the 6th January with the day of the Three Wise Kings, called Melchoir, Gaspar and Balthasar. It´s the best important date for children, because they bring presents for them. The night before, children leave their shoes on the windows or under the Christmas tree and fill them with food for the camels and water. The three Wise Kings, leave toys and presents and fill the shoes with sweets.

"Halloween" by Alejandra, 6 B

Hi classmates!.

This is Halloween. Halloween is celebrated on October 31st. Is the one night of the year where ghosts, witches and fairies are specially active. Many others countries in Europe and around the world celebrate Halloween. In Scotland and Ireland, traditional Halloween customs include children dressing up.

Halloween comes from the Celtic tradition. They believed the spirits of dead people come alive! Halloween imagery includes themes of death, evil, the ocult or mythical monsters. Black and orange are holiday's traditional colors.

Many families carve pumpkins together. They cut a face in a pumpkin with a knife.They put a candle in the pumpkin to make it light up. This is called a Jack-o-Lantern. They put a Jack-o-Lantern in a window so everybody can see it.

Many people also dress up in costumes. Costumes can be scary or funny. Halloween costumes are traditionally figures such as monsters, ghosts, skeletons, witches and devils.

Children "Trick or Treat" in their Halloween costumes. They go to a door and knock. When it opens they scream... TRICK OR TREAT! Sometimes they say; TRICK OR TREAT SMELL MY FEET GIVE ME SOMETHING GOOD TO EAT! They got candies from each house or apartament!

There are several games traditionally associated with Halloween parties. One common game is dunking or apple bobbing, in which apples float in a tub or a large basin of water and the participants must use their teeth to remove an apple from the basin.

In Halloween, the typical food are candy apples, caramel or taffy apples, made by rolling whole apples in a stick sugar syrup. Happy Halloween for everybody! Look out with the ghosts!!

"My sister" by Alejandra, 6B

Hi classmates!.

This is my sister Jimena. She's six years old. She lives in A Coruña. She's a student . She's thin and tall. She's got brown eyes and long, brown hair. She's got a cat, her name is Michi. She loves cats very much. She plays basketball for the school team. She likes playing with her dolls and her toys. She's very fun and she likes playing with me very much. She likes to go to school every morning and she loves to play with her best friend Maya and with her classmates in the playground. Hi!. I´m Alejandra. I´m eleven years old. My school is C.E.I.P. Emilia Pardo Bazán . I am in class 6B. My class is very big. There are two blackboards, a computer and some maps. The desks are little and green. There are twenty-two classmates: eleven boys and eleven girls. My classmates are very fun. Sara and Paula are my best friends but they aren´t in my class. My teacher´s name is Carme. I like school but I don´t like studying. English, P.E. and music are my favourite subjects. Bye bye classmates! I hope you enjoy reading my post!!

" Brigantium " by Alejandra Reíllo , 5B

Hello classmates!!.
A coruña is the town where I live. It's a city in he north west of Galicia, Spain. It's by the Atlantic Ocean. Its Roman name was Brigantium.
There are a lot of monuments in A Coruña.The most important is The Tower of Hercules, an ancient Roman lighthouse that is about 2, 000 years old.
Another important monument is the Castle of St. Antón.
There are many churches too: St. James church in the Old City, the Santa Barbara's convent and Saint George church.
There are many museums: the Aquarium Finisterrae, the Domus and the Science's house.
There are many shopping centers. There is the biggest shopping center in Spain: Marineda City. There are four cinemas.
There are a lot of beautiful beaches like Riazor beach, Orzan beach, St. Amaro beach.
There are many schools like Emilia Pardo Bazan school. There are universities too. There are sports centres . There is an airport: Alvedro.
A Coruña is a small city situated in Galicia.
